The driver of a car who hit a Wayne County Deputy Saturday night is facing numerous charges, including DWI.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Caitlin Fitzgerald had pulled over a car for failing to yield to an ambulance when Mauricio Mundo of Sodus plowed his car into both stopped vehicles. The deputy was injured and is being treated at Strong Memorial Hospital. Mundo left the scene and was arrested a nearby gas station by a Sodus police officer.
He’s been charged with assault, DWI, failure to yield, driving without insurance or registration, and leaving the scene.
