
Nearly all of Western New York is now considered in a “moderate drought” according to the U.S. Drought Monitor, a weekly map of drought conditions across America.
The chart shows all but Wayne County, has at least some areas of drought. The rest of Western and Central New York is considered “abnormally dry.” Only the area South of Albany has anything like normal rainfall this year.
Monroe County is split on a diagonal from Northwest to Southeast; moderate drought west of the line and abnormally dry to the east. No part of the Rochester area has had normal rainfall this season.
