Rochester firefighters had to pry the door off a burning car to rescue the driver after he crashed on South Avenue last night.
Police say the incident started with a hit-and-run on East Henrietta Road. The driver whose car was followed the the hit-and-run vehicle down Mt. Hope Avenue into the city while calling 911. The hit-and-run vehicle crashed into a pole at Mt. Hope and South Avenue and burst into flames.
Police say the driver was burned over 50 percent of his body and suffered life threatening injuries. He’s being treated at Strong Memorial Hospital.
