A man overdosed on heroin while driving in Gates on Memorial Day and ended up knocking out power to a neighborhood north of Buffalo Road when he crashed into a utility pole.
Gates Police say 29-year-old Steig Hale of Churchville turned out to be on parole from a burglary conviction and wasn’t wearing his ankle bracelet. Gates Chief James VanBrederode said his department is talking to the Parole Department to see what his conditions were. For now, they’ve charged him with DWAI-Drugs, drug possession and traffic violations.
Police say Hale was unconscious when they got to the crash scene and was revived with Narcan. He’ll be in court a week from today.
