The man accused of causing the death of a local pastor’s daughter while driving drunk a year ago has pled guilty in State Supreme Court.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office says 30-year-old Efrain Lopez-Contreras admitted to aggravated vehicular homicide, second degree manslaughter, assault and aggravated driving while intoxicated. He’ll be sentenced on February 14th.
Lopez-Contreras was driving on Redman Road in Clarkson a year ago Christmas Eve when he crashed head-on into a car driven by Pastor Tony Bartolucci and carrying his 14-year-old daughter, Gina Bartolucci. She died of her injuries after being hospitalized for six months, and her father was seriously injured.
Lopez-Contreras was found to have a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit. The DA’s office says Lopez-Contreras also has a federal immigration detainer and is expected to be deported to Mexico after serving his prison term.
