Congresswoman Louise Slaughter joined with Army Corps of Engineers and Coast Guard officials to mark the completion of dredging at the Rochester Harbor today.
Slaughter helped get more than $2 million in December to have the Corps dredge the harbor on the Genesee River back to spec so Great Lakes freighters can get in. They also announced the dredging program will continue next year to keep the harbor in shape.
Officials of EssRoc Ready Mix were also on hand. Their factory depends on the freighter Stephen B. Roman to bring in cement from Canada.
