This news site hasn’t been updated for about a week. That’s because my wife and I got COVID-19. This is the first day my head has felt clear enough for me to put out a coherent sentence. Will try to get back to work on CandC in another day or so.

Both of us had monoclonal antibody treatment, which is supposed to reduce the severity and duration of symptoms. they give you four big shots in your belly, which don’t feel too good but aren’t much compared to 2007 when I had chemo. The injection sites itch like crazy for me, my wife’s not at all. Go figure.

We’ve figured out where this came from and realize we both had it already when we left for Virginia last week to attend a family wedding. Mandy came down with symptoms beginning late Wednesday when we arrived in Winchester, Va. Mine began on Saturday night. We met with friends, who now both have COVID as well, and toured a couple of wineries and distilleries in the Shennandoah Valley. By Saturday we were in Staunton, Va. and Mandy was steadily feeling worse. We stopped at a Walgreen’s, got a quick test kit, and she turned up positive. Twice. So we didn’t go to the wedding; just turned around and headed back to Rochester. I started getting sick on the drive back.

Both of us are vaccinated, which means the symptoms are relatively mild. It feels like a bad flu with head congestion, malaise and no energy at all. Plus head and back aches to beat the band. Chills and shaking hands, too.

We’re hanging in.
