The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office took a despondent man into custody without injury to anyone after a domestic incident in Hamlin.
They say 40-year-old Ryan Donovan barricaded himself inside a home on Brick Schoolhouse Road. He was alone in the house after a woman fled, telling deputies Donovan had fired a shot from a handgun into the bathroom ceiling. The couple’s children were in school at the time.
Lake Ontario Baptist Academy was put on lockout as a precaution and neighbors were told to shelter in place.
Donovan was persuaded to leave the home peacefully, and deputies confiscated seven registered handguns and a number of long guns and ammunition from his home.
Donovan has been charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful imprisonment and menacing. He’s being held on $2,500 bail.
