DNA recovered from bones found in a fire pit in Parma matches that of a Parma man reported missing in May.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says 69-year-old William Mason has been declared dead by the Monroe County Medical Examiner.

Mason was reported missing from his home on West Ridge Road on May 26th and could not be found despite several intensive searches. Bone fragments and surgical implants were later recovered from the fire pit on his property, and deputies began considering the case a murder investigation.

The MCSO says it continues to review evidence in this case, including the results of several search warrants.
