Testimony in the Craig Rideout murder case finally got down to DNA evidence linking to specific defendants this afternoon…after lengthy testimony establishing how the evidence was collected and processed, and what steps were taken to make sure it wasn’t contaminated by DNA from one of the other defendants.
Defense attorneys did their best to convince the jury that’s exactly what happened, saying bloody items were placed on the same surfaces and came into contact with each other, possibly transferring DNA.
Prosecution witnesses said Colin Rideout’s DNA and the victim’s blood were found on blue jeans recovered from the car driven by Alexander and Colin Rideout when they were detained by deputies…Laura Rideout’s DNA was found inside a pair of sneakers that had Craig Rideout’s blood on the outside…and a diet coke bottle found at the murder scene had Laura Rideout’s DNA on it.
