New York State Police say they’re launching a statewide crackdown on distracted driving during the month of April.
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. From April 12th through the 16th, troopers will be out in marked and unmarked vehicles, aggressively ticketing drivers using handheld smartphones and other electronic devices while driving.
During the same period last year, state police issued 2,000 tickets for distracted driving, mainly for people texting or talking on hand-held phones while behind the wheel.
