The Irondequoit Police Officer accused of stalking and harassing his former girlfriend has resigned from the department.

Supervisor David Seeley says William Rosica resigned this morning (Fri) after 13 years as a police officer. He’d been on unpaid leave since he was arrested earlier this year. He was accused of tormenting his ex-girlfriend after she broke off their relationship, sending her and her ex-husband strings of harassing text messages, emails and phone calls.

Rosica was also charged with trying to hack into the secure email system and online medical records at the woman’s workplace. That got him under investigation by the Justice Department.

The Irondequoit Police Department says it’s working to fill Rosica’s job.
