Monroe County has a new Health Commissioner.
County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo has named Dr. Michael Mendoza to the Public Health Commissioner’s post. He’s been serving as interim commissioner since April. Mendoza is also Medical Direct
or at Highland Family Medicine.
Dinolfo says Dr. Mendoza demonstrated extensive expertise in the medical field during the past several months and will be a great leader for the health department. He’ll remain as interim director until the end of the year and his formal appointment will come in January with approval from the county legislature.
The county exec says she’s introducing a local law this month authorizing the commissioner to maintain clinical hours in order to stay current with medical certifications. The county legislature will consider it next month.
