The motorcycle rider killed in a crash last week on Dewey Avenue has been identified by Rochester Police has 28-year-old Daniel Vik of Gates.
The photo shows some of the dozens of riders who lined up in front of Aquinas Institute last week in honor of Vik’s memory.
Vik was riding with two other people on Dewey Avenue when a car pulled out from a parking space on the northbound side of the road and made an immediate U-turn to go south. She pulled directly into the path of Vik’s motorcycle, and he slammed into her driver’s side door. Vik was killed instantly, and the driver of the car suffered face and leg injuries that sent her to Strong Memorial Hospital.
The injured driver has been charged with making an unsafe turn.
