An employee of the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center in Rush has been arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and fired by the county, reportedly for arranging fistfights between teens being detained in the center.
The County Executive’s office said over the weekend only that they were made aware of a rules violation at the center and the sheriff’s office was brought in to investigate. The staff member was arrested and fired after the conclusion of that investigation. A state agency is investigating and internal investigation was underway.
WHAM 1180s Bob Lonsberry reported the fired employee had arranged unsanctioned boxing matches between youth detainees in a disused bathroom.
