The Rochester Police Department’s executive deputy chief is leaving at the end of the month.

City Hall says Andre Anderson is taking on a new job as chief of a department nearer to his home and family. In a statement he said it was a difficult decision, but the right one at this time.

Anderson has been deputy chief in Rochester for just six months, brought in after the turmoil following the Daniel Prude case. Before that, he was interim chief in Ferguson, Missouri following the turmoil after the shooting of Michael Brown. He was brought to Rochester after the Daniel Prude Case, and implemented new procedures for the department.
