Monroe County deputies exchanged gunfire Thursday night with an armed suspect at the Carabba’s Italian Grill in Henrietta.

They were called to the West Henrietta Road restaurant about 7:40 p.m. for a report of a man with a gun in the bar area. Sheriff Todd Baxter says the man shot at the deputies who walked into the restaurant, with a bullet narrowly missing one deputy’s head. Deputies returned fire and arrested the suspect. Nobody was hit by the gunfire.

Baxter says there were 30-to-40 patrons inside the restaurant when this took place. He says the scene was chaos, with people trying to get out and deputies trying to secure the scene and take control of the gun. Deputies responded within two minutes of the call, as one deputy happened to be across the street from the restaurant.
