Hundreds of people continued to march through downtown Rochester streets for a seventh night in commemoration of Daniel Prude’s life, and calling for justice following his death.

They painted the word “murderers” in front of the Public Safety Building on Exchange Boulevard in red paint, and the word “Resign” in front of City Hall.

One arrest was made as demonstrators marched from Jefferson Avenue and Dr. Samuel McCree Way to the Public Safety Building. Police say 32-year-old Kyle Davis of Rochester was arrested for attempted assault and resisting arrest. They said Davis aimed a laser pointer at police despite being ordered to stop, and fled as police approached him. One officer suffered a laceration to his eye.

Police at one point tweeted that rocks had been thrown at officers, but that was discounted by reporters, live cameras and church elders at the scene who served as buffers between the marchers and police.

Demonstrators continue to demand the resignation of Mayor Lovely Warren, following the retirement announcement of Chief La’Ron Singletary.
