A pair of Rochester deli owners pleaded guilty this week to food stamp fraud before a federal judge.
Federal prosecutors say Hicham Khallad and Karmin Euchi, both 47, were operators of the Joseph Maret at 900 Joseph Avenue in Rochester. Both were accused of allowing customers to purchase cigarettes and other non-food items with SNAP benefit cards, which violates federal law. They also bought benefit cards for money at a discounted rate, another violation.
The violations went on between May of 2018 and February of 2019.
