Governor Cuomo helped cut the ribbon today to open the del Lago Casino and resort in Tyre, Seneca County. Hundreds began pouring into the casino after the opening ceremonies to try out the thousands of slot machines and more than 80 table games.
Del Lago has created 1,500 permanent jobs to serve the casino, plus a hotel with more than 200 rooms, banquet and conference center, a spa and half-a-dozen restaurants.
Governor Cuomo said “growth begets growth, investment begets investment, and now you’re seeing it all over the region. I really believe the best is yet to be.”
Del Lago was one of the four casinos licensed upstate by referendum, and it was built with the help of a hefty tax reduction from the state.
