Attorneys defending a man accused in the ax murder of his wife moved in court on Wednesday for access to documents that say a confessed serial killer admitted to the crime.
Lawyers for James Krauseneck, accused in the 1982 murder of Cathleen Krauseneck, say another man also had motive and opportunity. Edward Laraby, a confessed serial rapist and murderer, apparently also confessed to the crime before he died in 2014. Laraby was actually a suspect in the murder back in 1982. The defense said he was on parole at the time, lived near the Krauseneck’s home and was a sociopath with a record of attacking women.
Prosecutors say there are reasons that will become clear why they don’t believe Laraby did it, including differences in the way Kathleen Krauseneck was killed and the way Laraby killed his victims. But defense attorneys say you “can’t get a more serious third party suspect.”
