A Monroe County Court Jury has found Terry Coley guilty of five counts of second degree robbery…for five separate gun-point robberies in the Town of Irondequoit.
The 22-year-old man held up cashiers at Kwik Fill gas stations in Irondequoit between May and September of last year. Each time, he pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded money. In June of 2016 he held up an Irondequoit bank, threatening five tellers and a dozen or more people in the bank before escaping with $18,000. Dye packs in the money went off as he ran away with the money, destroying it.
Coley was arrested after going back to robbing gas stations last September. This time police expecting him to hold up the same gas station again had prepared a pack of money with a GPS tracking device inside it. They were able to track him to his apartment and arrest him. They also found a ski mask similar to the one worn by the robber and the gun.
Prosecutor Laura Vanderbrook called Coley “a calculated criminal.” He’ll be sentenced on October 10th.
