State Department of Environmental Conservation officials decided to euthanize a deer that spent Wednesday and Thursday wandering on the ice of the Genesee River in downtown Rochester.
A statement from the DEC says they together with Rochester Police decided to euthanize the doe because it was becoming a hazard to public safety. Two men climbed down to the river and tried to rescue the deer on Wednesday, and police say another man was trying to do the same thing Thursday night before they arrived and prevented it.
