The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has accepted ten recommendations to reduce offensive odors that have been coming from the Waste Management High Acres Landfill in Perinton.
Waste Management says in a statement that it will comply with the requirements and is still working to address the odor problem. It says the problem is temporarily being made worse by construction intended to eventually control the odor issue.
The group Fresh Air for the East Side says it is “cautiously optimistic” that the Perinton Conservation Board recommendations have been accepted and will continue to push for a permanent solution.
