After months of nervous speculation, officials have announced a deal for a new Buffalo Bills stadium. It will keep the team in Orchard Park for another 30 years, at a cost of $1.4 billion. $850 million of that money will come from taxpayers under the agreement between Erie County, the state and the Bills.

Governor Kathy Hochul says the state is contributing $600 million. $250 million will come from Erie County. Hochul says the project will create some 10,000 union jobs and the cost will be recovered from the economic activity the team generates.

The new stadium will be open air, and it will be across the road from the current Highmark Stadium. The team will sign a lease agreement to play at Highmark until the new stadium is ready. That’s expected to be in 2026. It will have upwards of 60,000 seats.
