A suspect who was fatally shot by police during a hold-up at the Family Dollar Store on West Main Street was a suspect in three murder cases, according to Rochester Police Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan. ‘

Herriott-Sullivan said in a news conference Thursday that those murders took place over the last two years in Rochester. She didn’t give any more details, saying they would have to come from the State Attorney General’s Office, which has taken over the investigation.

The chief did say the incident in the store was over in less than a minute, as two officers walked in to find the store being robbed and a manager being held at gunpoint. Another store employee phoned 911 from the back of the store and summoned police.

Herriott-Sullivan said body-worn camera footage is being reviewed and will be released as soon as possible.
