A daycare in Rochester was safely evacuated this afternoon when a fire broke out in the building’s attic.
The Rochester Fire Department says the daycare is located in a house at 42 Chandler Street. Fire crews arrived to see light coming from the attic and quickly got the fire out. The daycare operator said she heard a “pop” upstairs and believed there might be a fire inside the walls, so she got the children out of the house.
Firefighters say her instinct was exactly right. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
