The man accused setting a fatal house fire while targeting his girlfriend has pleaded guilty to attempted murder and arson charges.
Lawrence Dash was charged after a fire at 30 Hertel Street that killed Champagne Singleton when she tried to rescue her two children. They got out of the house, as did the woman the 62-year-old Dash was actually targeting. Six people were hospitalized because of their injuries.
According to the criminal complaint against him, Dash admitted to pouring lighter fluid on the porch furniture at the Hertel Street house and setting the fire. About an hour earlier, he tried to stab his girlfriend, Katherine Rogers, but she got away and barricaded herself in the house.
