The House of Mercy says it’s received a donation from the Danielle Family that will equip the kitchen at its new shelter on Ormond Street. The Danieles have donated the kitchen supplies from Mario’s Restaurant, which was shut down in Brighton to make way for a Whole Foods store.

The House of Mercy is beginning a $5 million capital campaign to renovate the former commercial building at 285 Ormond Street into an expanded homeless shelter, with a kitchen and dining space which the current shelter doesn’t have.

They say they’ve raised about 60 percent of the money already from private sources. Now they’re going to the public for the final $2 million to cover renovating the building and its first two years of operations.
