Mugshot-Efrain Lopez-ContrerasA grand jury will hear new evidence this week in the case of Efrain Lopez-Contreras, who was driving drunk when he crashed head-on into an SUV on Redman Road on Christmas Eve.

That crash six months ago critically injured 14-year-old Giana Bartolucci, who died last week of complications following surgery.

Lopez-Contreras was charged with DWI and vehicular assault after the crash in Clarkson, but now the District Attorney says she’ll present new evidence to the grand jury including the autopsy report on the teenager’s death.

The 30-year-old Lopez-Contreras was in the country illegally. U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement says in a statement that they previously deported him in 2009 and again in 2011.

Lopez Contreras was arrested for drunken driving in Orleans County in 2010 after illegally reentering the United States. He led deputies on a high speed chase at better than 100 miles an hour.
