In a lengthy and sometimes emotional news conference, New York Andrew Cuomo said he won’t resign because of the outcry over harassment allegations brought against him by three women.
The women, including two former aides, accuse Cuomo of unwanted sexual advances. One says he grabbed her face and gave her an unwanted kiss at a wedding.
In his first briefing since February 19th, Governor Cuomo said he would fully cooperate with the investigation by New York’s attorney general into his conduct. Cuomo says he fully supports a woman’s right to come forward, and said he deeply apologizes, and that he now understands he acted in a way that made people feel uncomfortable. He then asked New Yorkers to wait for the investigation report before making up their minds about him.
State Senate Majority Leader Rob Ortt called it an “Emmy winning performance” and repeated his call that the governor should step down. A number of Majority Democrats said the same.
