Governor Cuomo says this week’s election was different than anything he’s seen.
Speaking after an event in Syracuse, the governor told reporters that people were angry across the board, and he says the results of the New York Democratic primary telegraphed their dissatisfaction.
Cuomo says 40 percent of New York Democrats voted for Bernie Sanders and against Hillary Clinton in the primary. He says that shows a lot of anti-establishment sentiment from people who were fed up, economically upset and distrustful of their government.
Cuomo says you put a population with real problems together with a government they don’t trust and you get Donald Trump elected as President.
But Cuomo also says he’ll continue with progressive ideas in New York because he believes in policies that take the people at the bottom and raise them up.
