Governor Cuomo went to Buffalo today to sign a bill to help heroin and opioid drug addicts get treatment.
Cuomo is touring the state promoting the bill. It requires insurance companies to pay for greater access to treatment programs for people trying to fight addiction. It made it through the state legislatur
e this year after a number of reports showed heroin and synthetic opioid painkillers have become a leading cause of accidental deaths in New York.
During his speech in Buffalo the governor said his 20-year-old daughter was given a 30 day supply of opioid pain pills after having her tonsils out. He says nobody needs that.
