Governor Andrew Cuomo says he’s applying for FEMA emergency funding to aid Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River property owners who were flooded by the record high lake levels this spring.
Cuomo says he believes in this case, the federal government owes something to New York’s shoreline residents.
Speaking in Irondequoit , the governor said he’s also calling on President Trump to appoint better qualified people to the International Joint Commission. The president appoints three of the ICJ members and Canada the other three. Governor Cuomo says mother nature sent the rain that sent Lake Ontario to record high levels this spring…but the International Joint Commission botched their response to it.
The governor also signed the state aid bill for shoreline home and business owners while speaking on the lake shore.
