Governor Andrew Cuomo says he’s asking the State Legislature to approve a $40 million emergency appropriation to get New York State ready for a possible outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.
Cuomo says it looks increasingly likely that the state will have to deal with some sort of outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The money will help ensure local health departments are ready, and stockpile supplies to be shared out as needed. Health and transportation officials will coordinate with all local health departments and hospitals around the state.
There is still no confirmed case of the Covid-19 virus in New York State, although a number of people are quarantined because of exposure.
Cuomo says they are hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.
