Governor Andrew Cuomo over the weekend threw out the state’s COVID-19 travel advisory policy, and replaced it with a mandatory testing program for people coming into the state.

The governor said nearly every state would now be on the advisory list, forcing a change in policy.

Now, travelers coming into New York are supposed to show proof that they’ve had a negative COVID-19 test within three days of arrival. Then they’re supposed to quarantine for three days, and get another test on the fourth day. Assuming that’s negative, the person is free of quarantining and can go about their business.

New Yorkers who travel outside the state must get tested within four days of returning to New York.
