Governor Cuomo has ordered restaurants and bars statewide to close their indoor service at 10 p.m. nightly, although food delivery curbside may continue. The governor also says gyms must close at 10, and gatherings in private homes must be limited to no more than 10 people to slow the spread of the coronavirus in its second wave.
These rules take effect Friday at 10 p.m.
Cuomo says this is in line with what neighboring states are doing, and is an issue of public safety. The governor says it’s tough on the bars, restaurants and gyms, but it’s tougher to lose a loved one to COVID-19. He says these changes will hopefully help stem the rising number of coronavirus cases until the new vaccine is widely available.
