Governor Cuomo held a news conference Sunday, saying the state is launching a toll-free hotline for New Yorkers who believe family members, friends or colleagues may be missing or detained while en route to the United States.

This is in reaction to President Trump’s immigration order, which led to a number of people being held at JFK Airport because the order took effect after they had left on flights to the United States. Some legal U.S. green card residents were detained, although the Trump Administration now says that shouldn’t have happened.

Governor Cuomo also said he’s introducing legislation to make assaulting an airport worker a class D felony. This follows an attack on a Muslim employee by a member of the public at JFK last week.
