More than half of New Yorkers (55 percent) say they’re positive on Andrew Cuomo’s performance as Governor, but nearly half (47 percent) say it’s time for someone else to occupy the governor’s office.

The Zogby Poll finds Cuomo’s job performance remains solid, with 45 percent saying their view of him was negative. Upstate, the view on Cuomo is 54 percent negative. Downstate it’s positive by the same amount. Cuomo gets his highest marks from voters in New York’s big cities: 71 percent positive and 29 percent negative.

Zogby finds Cuomo would win in a race against New York Attorney General Letitia James. The hypothetical candidate who did best against Cuomo was Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, a Republican.

When asked if Governor Cuomo was responsible for thousands of nursing home patient deaths during the pandemic, half of all voters statewide said Cuomo was to blame. One third said he was not responsible, and the rest were undecided.
