Governor Andrew Cuomo’s eighth State of the State address highlighted more than 20 issues this afternoon…. including a voter reform plan and other topics, including combating the opioid crisis and the threat of terrorism.

The governor discussed ongoing efforts to curb sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace as well as criminal justice reform.  He also said more needs to be done to help the homeless, protect the environment, and boost infrastructure.

Cuomo also addressed the passage of the GOP tax plan — calling it a ‘federal assault’ on New York that could thwart business development and force people to leave the state.

Cuomo laid out a three point strategy to fight it starting with a lawsuit challenging the tax bill as unconstitutional, launching a repeal and replacement effort and exploring a major shift in the tax code.
