Governor Cuomo was on the attack against President Trump during a press conference this afternoon when he apparently put his foot in his mouth.
Cuomo was signing a bill that makes it easier to prosecute people for forcing children into prostitution when he said: “we’re not gonna make America great again. It was never that great.”
The statement brought a gasp and also laughter from the audience. It was quickly jumped on by Republicans including the state chairman, candidates for office and Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb of Canandaigua.
Cuomo’s Republican opponent, Marc Molinaro, said the Governor owes the nation an apology.
Cuomo issued a statement saying President Trump talks about “Making America Great Again,” so he obviously doesn’t think it’s great now. He goes on to say that America will realize its full greatness when every man, woman and child has full equality.
