Rochester prepares for Thursday’s game against Jamestown at the BCA.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester RazorSharks game on Thursday against the Jamestown Jackals will be a special one for the longest tenured Shark, and reigning Premier Basketball League (PBL) Most Valuable Player, Jerice Crouch.

Crouch is in his 10th year with Rochester and will tie Sharks legend Keith Friel for most all-time games played in a RazorSharks uniform, at 186. Crouch just passed Friel in another major category this past weekend; he is now the all-time leader in field goals made with 828, passing Friel’s 827 against the Pennsylvania Dream.

Crouch still has some work to do if he wants to overtake Friel’s 2,830 total points, trailing by 403. Friel was much more of a three-point shooter than Crouch, with 552 total to 228 for Crouch. But Crouch leads the Sharks in assists with 787 and steals with 234. He is on pace to finish with around 200 points this season, so one would expect him to surpass Friel’s point total in 2019, should Crouch choose to play that long.

In their first meeting this season, the RazorSharks crushed the Jackals 103-65 at the Blue Cross Arena. The first half was not much of a contest, but Jamestown figured it out in the second, only allowing four more points than they scored themselves. Melvin Council led the Sharks with 19, and Oswinn Hines led the Jackals with 18. The two teams combined for 31 turnovers the last time out.

Boxing star Willie “El Mongoose” Monroe Jr., Rochester native and 5th ranked middleweight boxer in the world, will be at the Blue Cross Arena Thursday and will be available for autographs and pictures one hour prior to the game. There also will be a raffle with a chance to win some exclusive Willie Monroe Jr. memorabilia. Tipoff will be 7 pm on Thursday at the Blue Cross Arena.
