A federal bankruptcy court has chosen a committee of nine people, survivors of clergy abuse among them, to represent unsecured creditors in the bankruptcy of Rochester’s Roman Catholic Diocese.

It will be the committee’s job to represent all the people owned money by the diocese, and that includes plaintiffs who have filed suit charging they were abused as children by clergy or church employees.

The diocese filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on September 11th. It was the first Catholic diocese in New York State to do so.
