Greece Police have identified the 18-year-old killed in a crash on Latta Road in Greece Sunday evening as Paige Smith. A Go Fund Me account has been set up in her memory.
The young woman was two weeks from graduating from Hilton High School when she and a second 18-year-old Hilton High student slammed head-on into an SUV near Latta and Flynn Roads in Greece.
Greece Police say the crash happened about 6:00 Sunday evening. Chief Gerald Phelan said the driver somehow lost control while heading west on Latta, crossing the center line and hitting the SUV, which was driven by a 64-year-old woman. The driver may have been distracted, but the chief says that’s still under investigation. Both teens were Hilton High students.
Smith was the passenger in the car and was killed. The driver was critically injured. The woman driving the SUV suffered minor injuries.
Police had Latta Road between Flynn Road and Dominic Way shut down overnight.
