The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says a man was critically injured Monday evening when he was accidentally shot by hunters.
Corporal John Helfer says a father and son were coyote hunting in a wooded area off Lake Road in Sweden about 6:30 Monday evening when they shot a third man who was in the area. They administered first aid to the victim and called 911.
Deputies used an ATV to carry the victim out of the woods, where an ambulance took him to Strong Memorial Hospital. His injuries were described as “life threatening.”
The incident continues under investigation.
