Covid cases have risen again according to the Monroe County Health Department…but Rochester area hospital officials are seeing a difference this time: not as many people are ending up in the hospital with COVID.
Dr. Robert Mayo of Rochester Regional Health told a press briefing that most of these patients are not requiring intensive care, but they’re still hoping new infections with the latest Omicron variant will remain low.
Dr. Michael Apostalakos at the University of Rochester Medical Center said the patients being admitted with COVID now often don’t have COVID symptoms and those who do don’t seem to get as sick. He says their COVID infections are often discovered at the hospital and aren’t why the people came in.
