Monroe County health officials report 5,799 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday’s update, and 30 new deaths from the pandemic.
Those 30 deaths came between December 15 and January 12. 1,644 Monroe County residents have died of COVID since the pandemic began.
The county has been averaging more than 1,700 new cases per day over the past three weeks. They say 741 people are hospitalized across the Finger Lakes region. That’s up 229 since the end of December.
Downstate authorities are seeing cases begin to drop, and Monroe County officials expect to see the same here in another couple of weeks.
