Monroe County Health Director Dr. Michael Mendoza says there’s been a trend in positive cases of the coronavirus that could be related to attendance in a house of worship.
In a statement Thursday, Mendoza said he’s concerned even though the overall infection rate in Monroe County remains low.
Mendoza says at least 70 cases have been detected in the county in people who regularly attend church or are in close contact with people who do. He says faith communities should review the best practices for preventing spread of the virus and make sure they’re using them.
