The Monroe County Department of Public health reported 108 new cases of COVID-19 on wednesday, more than double the number of the day before.
County Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza said the county is moving in the wrong direction, and urged everyone who isn’t vaccinated to get the shot as soon as possible. Mendoza said “this pandemic is not over, and without question vaccination is the most effective tool we have in controlling its spread.”
More than 40 people are hospitalized with COVID in the Finger Lakes Region, five of them in the ICU.
