New York’s highest court has ruled that Democrat Steve Glickman can’t run for the state Senate in November.

The Court of Appeals ruled this afternoon that Glickman isn’t eligible to run against Republican Senator Rich Funke…. because he doesn’t meet the state’s five-year residency requirement.

The court ruled after hearing arguments in the case of  Glickman vs. Laffin, the election law case filed by three Republicans seeking to throw Senator Funke’s challenger off the ballot. The deciding point was that Glickman registered to vote while he was working in Washington, D-C in 2014. Glickman’s lawyer argued that his legal address was always in New York State…but the justices say your home is where you vote.

Glickman has been off the ballot…on again…and now off again as his case worked its way from State Supreme Court through the appeals courts. He wanted to challenge Rich Funke in the 55th District which runs from Rochester, south. There is no further appeal from this decision.
